ADVOCACY & INTERSECTIONALITY

Our Advocacy Team ensures that everything we do is grounded in equity, inclusion, and systemic change. This mahi is driven by a commitment to amplifying underrepresented voices, uplifting intersectional experiences, and making space for kōrero that challenges and inspires.

Key initiatives include:

  • The Legal Tea Sessions - A relaxed and inclusive space for students to discuss anything and everything legal - from current events to historic cases - through an intersectional and critical lens. We invite notable academics and authors to discuss their works with us in depth.

  • Mana Wāhine Committee Representation - Our Advocacy Officers sit on Women in Law’s internal Mana Wāhine Committee, helping ensure our work is accountable to the values of manaakitanga, intersectionality, and kaupapa Māori.

  • Educational Campaigns - The team regularly shares accessible content that breaks down legislation, policies, and legal issues impacting women and gender-diverse communities, helping our members stay informed, empowered, and engaged.

Through this kaupapa-driven work, our Advocacy team fosters a culture of collective care, critical thinking, and courage, making Women in Law not just a network, but a movement.
